Marathon Petroleum Company Piperack & Infrastructure Upgrades

Cajun was contracted by Marathon Petroleum Company to provide comprehensive deep foundations solutions for pipe rack infrastructure and several new units in the refinery. The completed work will allow for increased production to the 522,000-barrel-per-day facility, by expanding the size of existing pipe racks, along with creating deep foundations for new, large plant vessels.

Accomplishments

  • Project won the 2016 ABC Bayou & Pelican Chapter Excellence in Construction Award.
  • 100% of the work was self-performed by merit shop labor, trained and vested into Cajun’s top-performing, “safety-above-all” workforce.

Work Performed

The piling scope consisted of precast concrete piles, timber piles, sheet piles, limited access and standard access auger cast piles. Cajun successfully installed 1,351 piles of various types and lengths as follows:

  • Pre-cast concrete: 199 EA – 14” x 70’
  • Timber piles: 254 EA – 50’ Class B
  • Sheet piles: 200 WF – PZ27 x 30’
  • Standard auger cast: 583 EA – 16” x 45-70’
  • Limited overhead auger cast: 115 EA – 16” x 45-70′
