Short Fork Waste Water Treatment Plant and Byhalia Road Pump Station

Location: Hernando, MS

Description: This project was part of a county-wide sewer system upgrade. Cajun received awards for the 6 million gallon/day treatment plant and the 14,000 gallon/minute pump station. Cajun’s scope of work also included construction of a new head works facility, an administration building and a mile-long limestone access road and installation of a new splitter box, a new aeration basin, two 80’ diameter clarifiers, a UV disinfection/post aeration structure, a channel grinder, discharge piping, valves and flow meters.

Cajun’s scope included placement of 363,200 CY of imported fill, placement of 8,000 CY of structural concrete, installation of a lift gate, dewatering, installation of 54” and 24” effluent lines, installation of 16” submersible pumps and associated piping, utility modifications and placement of a 31′ width x 27′ length x 41′ depth cast-in-place concrete pump station.

Cajun value engineered a caisson method for construction of the pump station, which resulted in significant savings to the government.
