Description of Project:
Cajun provided a turnkey construction solution from site work through mechanical completion on this project. We worked over 495,000 man-hours to construct the first grassroots detergent manufacturing plant of its type in the United States. Our scope of work included site prep, concrete foundations, drill shafts and augercast piling, structural steel erection, underground utility and drainage piping, architectural buildings, process piping and mechanical equipment setting.
Work Performed:

17,000 cubic yards of concrete with Drill Shafts and Augercast Piling.

Sitework consisted of 120,000 cubic yards of excavation including a 5-acre storm water retention pond.

Erected 1900 tons of structural steel and over 1500 L.F. of structural pipe racks.

Installed over 60,000 L.F. of carbon and stainless steel process piping.

Over 8500 welds ranging from ½” to 24”.

Approximately 120 pumps were set, aligned and grouted.

Installed over 3200 L.F. of 16” HDPE pipe with hydrants and valves.

Set 90 ton reactor vessel and 70 ton fractionation column.

Erected 45 prefabricated tanks ranging from 10’ to 15’ in diameter.

Successfully turned over 125 completed test packages.
Challenges:
- Fast Track Project with a Lump Sum Execution Strategy
- Engineering deliverables were consistently late.
- The fast paced schedule required a much larger workforce in a relatively small work area, causing space, and traffic and coordination issues.
